Roller Derby is a HUGE COMMITMENT! The league holds four practices a week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, and Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Additionally we hold an off-skates training session on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 - 4:00 PM. A minimum attendance percentage is required to be eligible to bout competively. In addition to practice, members are expected to volunteer at bouts, fundraisers, and other official league events. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization we are an entirely volunteer run organization and all active skaters are required to serve on a minimum of one committee.
Are injuries common?
Roller Derby is a full contact sport. Injuries occur, but we train to prevent injuries. Full protective gear is REQUIRED to participate in any NOtown practice, scrimmage, bout, or event involving skating.
